Welcome to the webpage of the Volcanic Petrology and Geochemistry Group! the objective of this group is founded on three pillars:

Our research within the Department of Mineralogy, Petrology and Applied Geology at the University of Barcelona focuses into magmatic and volcanic processes and their impacts through integrated field, petrology and geochemistry approaches. We combine fundamental petrology and geochemistry with geochemical modelling and time-scale determination of magmatic processes.

We also focus on teaching in the fields of petrology, geochemistry, and volcanology to undergraduate and master’s students, as well as providing and supporting training and research for PhD students and postdoctoral researchers.

Our commitment to education and society drives us to bringing volcanology to a non-specialist audience, ranging from children to elderly individuals.
